what is this called??

yeah, so i DESTROYED my tranny, and in the process found a couple of parts that need replacement, which i don't think is uncommon on a 13 year old car. most of the parts that need to be replaced i know what they are called, but a couple i ain't quite sure:

this part was below the power steering speed sensor, and it was inside the tranny:


and do you guys think i need a new clutch?

if i just need the ball joint boot is that the same thing? what about the clutch?

define slipping... how much will a ball joint run me? and the tranny was grinding into second... and sometimes third

Your synchros are goin in second and third they are bad. a slipping clutch sounds and feels like its catchin with the engine rev but its not gripping aswell leavin you feelin its not as fast but then at the last moment it will catch grip.

Thing of it like a tired spinning rappidly on ice if theres no traction it wont catch until the last second with vehicle speed. the balljoint is like what 20 bucks.

yeah balljoint is like 20, but i can't find only one... and the gear shaft, that should come with the transmission right?
