    muffler

Ok, Ive got a bad stock muffler, has holes and a huge dent. Just found a cheap N1 2.5 inlet universal muffler. Is it possible to cut off the old stock muffler and put this one in place? If so how should I go about doing it?

Yes, it's possible. Take it to a muffler shop, and they'll do it for you in just a few minutes.
It won't do much in terms of performance, and it might not be much quieter than your current swiss cheese muffler... but it should at least sound better, and look cooler.

Thats really all I am looking for. How much would this cost reasonably?

An exhaust shop could tell you that. I'm not an exhaust shop.

why not just replace it with one from a salvage yard? They can't cost more than 20-30 bucks and it'll bolt right on to the midpipe.

If you put on a cheap muffler, it'll sound raspy and drone pretty bad on the highway....you'll get sick of it within a week.

I was thinking of going to the yard and searching for a replacement so I have a backup in case of a ticket or I dont like it.
