    Replacing rear mount suggestions

Hey guys, and yes I've searched and did some research, But I still got a question.

Would a MT rear mount work better then a AT vac rear mount? Or can I just block of the vac solenoid for the AT Rear Mount? Should I go solid on both or leave as be?

Pros and cons? maybe? "Btw my steering wheel shakes like a mother sucker"

MT rear mount Very simple design, all rubber like the other mounts, so it's easy to check its condition. Easily fill-able, if you were to modify it. Way smaller too, so it's easier to change out. BUT keep in mind: You will HAVE TO change out your rear motor mount bracket to a DX/LX manual bracket in order to run the MT mount on your CB. Also go with something of really good quality.

I have a LX Auto, Don't have a bracket? but it's similar to the one of a AT?

Hmmm... That's weird. A few years back, I accidentally ordered that manual trans rear mount. I didn't notice until I took my old mount out and just decided to go with it. It mounted up perfectly to my auto trans bracket without having to change anything.

The only thing I had to do was remove the excess stuff for the auto trans mount and use a vacuum cap on the intake to stop the vacuum leak. (I just pulled off the vacuum hose that went to the rear mount).

No issues with fitment with a manual rear mount on an auto trans bracket. Maybe it's because I have an EX. Not sure.

does it eliminate the vibration ?! why is the auto then equiped with a vaccum rear mount then ?! ... I presume because the auto tranny is bigger than an MT one.

I work at an autoparts store, I compared the 8011 ( manual mount) to the 8984 ( auto mount) only differences are the 8011 is missing the vac and has a straight cylinder core as the 8984 has a ring at the center of the core body and it does seem to have some kind of poly but mounted on metal other difference you can't really tell but the 8984 is a couple mm taller than the 8011 manual mount but it seems to have the same function but without the vac line.

I replaced my mount about 6 months ago for the same mount but used from an pick your part "jy" but didn't minimize my steering wheel vibration, I haven't decided which to use I already bought the 8011 but I'm thinking of buying the other one as well( they're pretty cheap for me ).

Depending on the trim level, CBs came with 3 different rear mounts. There's automatic, EX manual and DX/LX manual. Automatic and EX manual are dimensionally the same size, auto has the vac. diaphragm while the EX manual does not. These 2 mounts are tall and use the tall rear mount bracket.

Then there's the DX/LX manual mount. This is all rubber just like the other 3 mounts. It's also much shorter and looks nothing like the auto and EX manual mount. This mount uses its own short rear mount bracket.

You'll even notice there's 3 different brackets listed aswell. IDK for sure but I think the only diff. between the auto and EX manual is the stud location for the stay that connects to the transmission. Looking at the diagram they do look alittle bit different. I've always heard of the brackets either being the tall or short type.

I see, I guess I'll just stick with auto mount since I don't have the bracket and the lines capped anyhow.
