    A/C Evaporator Differences

Good day everyone. I'm in the process of "refreshing" my a/c system and when I went to order a new evaporator, I noticed that Rockauto sells two different types. One is called a flange mount type and the other is called a pad mount type. What's the difference between these two and how do I know which one to order?

In addition, ackits.com sells two different ones as well:

When I look for one from Honda, I only see one listed as far as part numbers go.

    Any ideas?

They are different depending on whether or not your car came with a Denso or Hadsys A/C compressor. If your car was not a '93 EX/SE then it's a Denso.

DX and LX models use the screw on fitting type. EX and SE models use the flange type mounts.

Mine is a 91 EX, so I'm guessing I have a Denso compressor and I need to order the Flange type mount evaporator? Is Rockauto considering the Flange type and Pad mount type to be the same?

Flange and pad mount are the same. Look at your firewall and check the fittings before you place your order.
