    Downpipe to block bracket.

So my buddies regulator isn't working, and were out of argon or else I'd weld it.

My problem is that the stock downpipe bracket keeps breaking on me. I got a downpipe from the JY twice now, but the bracket keeps breaking off the pipe.

I actually spent 2 hours at the JY just taking off downpipes and the damn things would break off as soon as I unbolted them.

Is there any way to stop the rattle other than welding a plate on?

So just take it off? Won't it hit the crossmember?

youre talking about the bracket in the back, underneath the oil filter? yeah, just leave it off. I suspect that running without it will EVENTUALLY lead to cheap ebay headers blowing out the front gasket (the one from header->downpipe) from the additional vibration over time, but at least you know the plate won't keep ripping off and putting holes in your downpipe. I think OEM units are a little more sturdy and won't have the same problem with the gasket blowing out. Otherwise, no, it doesnt cause it to hit anything, the brace is nothing more than to support the back of the downpipe. If you have it bolted to the cat, and the rest of your exhaust is hung, then there is nothing for it to hit.

Depending if it sags at the flexpipe like mine, it will drag over speed bumps and will keep ripping the flexpipe.

Not if the rubber hanger after the flex pipe is still in good shape. I recently purchased a few urethane hanger mounts on eBay. One of those may add the extra bit of security you're concerned with.

The hangars look good to me, and the rest of the exhaust is hung properly [for now - my blast pipes will be going on soon, but even then I'm gonna do it right]

I'm just absolutely sick of the fucking loud vibrations that occur in the 2300-2700 RPM range. Which just so happens to be the RPM range I'm in most often.

the subi guys were whining about those poly hangers dying pretty quick, dunno if it was because they were clear or w/e just a heads up.

I'm sure if you grease them they'll last just fine.
