So on my 90 if I put it in reverse accelerate a little and brake hard in reverse I get a pretty loud pop originally only in reverse now when I put it into drive it happens too. I pull forward just a bit and it pops. Now within the past week I changed upper control arm-lower ball joint but this happened before all of this work even. It is driving me crazy getting worse everyday and possibly unsafe please anyone help me figure this out I thoroughly looked through the whole right side of the front end torqued it all down to exact specs it just feels like something is going to fall-snap right off in the front end. Please note I do hear the minor brake shift click it's normal though and the pop only happens once after switching from park-reverse-drive then accelerating a little and hitting the brakes.

I have the same pop on my car. I never could figure it out, but I think it's my sway link bushings. In the past I had my rack come loose, the bolts was causing the pop noise. Then I had another time my transmission was causing a pop because a bolt was loose in it's threads. It some how got stripped out and was wiggling loose. Let us know if you figure it out, I'm very curious what it could be just in case I'm wrong with my assumption of it being the sway bar link bushings on my car.Originally posted by Kev1990 View PostSo on my 90 if I put it in reverse accelerate a little and brake hard in reverse I get a pretty loud pop originally only in reverse now when I put it into drive it happens too. motor mounts? have you tried keeping it in park with the hood open and rock the car with your knee pretty hard, the engine will move maybe a half inch if that, any more and you got a bad rear or front mount. possibly even broken bolts on the rear bracket that connect it to the block and trans.

Found out what mine was Kev, my newer CV Joint was poing going from reverse to first when backing out or hard stops or etc... Well yesterday I made a hard stop and the CV Shaft broke soooo I don't know if this helps but I found out what my pop was, and learned my lession on buying cheap crap. :/Originally posted by Kev1990 View PostCheck and tighten your upper control arm bushings mine weren't just tight enough from the start and caused the pop that I've had for oh so long LOL. Because it would actually allow the whole upper arm to move somehow.

Dam man you for real? That's crazy we both found out what our pops were then your dam axle breaks it's just a good thing you were going slow backing out. If I were you you should leave the car where it sits and change the axle right there LOL. Cheaper then getting it towed and everything.... I have heard though of axles going bad and popping in reverse. How long did you have that pop for? I am so unsatisfied with the Pepboy's upper control arm I put on a few months back twice now the ball joint is squeaking-creaking I am just glad it's not the lower. Thinking about returning it and going for Moog what do you think? I think the end result is both of us learning not to buy cheap parts. Do you atleast have another car to use while that ones down?Last edited by Kev1990; 05-24-2015, 01:40 PM.

I can't remember what upper control arms I have, but I have SPC ball joints for camber adjusting. I have moog inner/outer tierods and lower ball joints. Thing about my lower ball joints are the boots kept ripping, so I finally said screw it and bought prothane boots for them. Other than that they have been great for me.Originally posted by Kev1990 View PostDam man you for real?
