    Axle boot torn... again

So i just walked out to my car to get a cd and noticed some black shit on my rims. So i bend down and sure enough i tore the boot. This is the second this has happend in four years and the first one resulted on a new axle as im sure this one will. Oh well im glad its an easy fix. Is it commen for these to go out this fast. Both times its been on the driver side. I dont have anything to extreme done to her either. Cat-back, CAI, header, high flow cat, Gude cam. WTF??

Haha your a funny guy. I did buy a honda one thank you very much. Why buy three axles when i just need one? Fucking you know what dude i happend to have worked at a dealership for two years (which by no means makes me an expert) and gone thru school to be a mechanic. Im not stupid no shit there made from rubber. I was asking if anyone else has had a problem with lowered cars like that going thru axles. I know that the A2 Jettas will just break axles if there lowered and your rodding on them. So i was seeing if that was true with a cb7. Also the reason on the Jettas and im assumming it would be the same for a cb7 is that when you lower a car that low it puts everything at different angles and puts more pressure in areas. So now that i feel better has anyone else had this problem?

First, chill out, he was just trying to help. Jettas are crap period.. thats why they break. But yes, lowering the car puts the axles at slightly different angles, but on our cars, its not too bad. Just try not to screw around in grass...peeling out or whatever. And 2 in 4 years... I wouldnt exactly say there is a problem there.

Same problem here, I got to replace both my axles and Iv been lowerd for 2 years. I heard its a easy fix but alittle time consuming. How much you guys think is a reasonable price to have my buddy replace them for me?

I've heard they make temporary boot fixes for cv joints. Its like a new rubber boot thats split in half with a zipper or something, and you just slide it over and seal the zipper. Its meant as a very temporary fix until you can really repair it... I don't know if they fit our cv boots though, I never really looked into it.

Replacing the axles is a really easy job. You will need a ball joint seperator for the lower ball joint but other than that no real special tools are needed. I did my first drivers side axle in 15 minutes.

wait so to replace the boot, what you gotta do again? does it require a lot of tools and strength?

basically all my stuffs I've been using hand tools, and what not.
