    Heatshield After Flex Pipe, Rattling.

Today was a busy day for me. Since the new Jordan Retro 10's
were released. So me being the addict that i am, i went to like
3 malls trying to find them. Left my house like at 8:30am, drove to one
mall like 15mins away and had no luck. From there i went to another mall
which is like 10mins away, no luck there. Finally i drove all the way out to
Deptford Mall which is like a 20-25mins ride. Got there at 10am, waited till
12pm until shipment arrived. I didnt get to leave till 1:30pm

Well, when i went to turn the car on i heard this loud rattling comming from
the exhaust. I got out and went to the back of the car to check, it was not there.
So i had to work my way up. I then came across the pipe after the
flex pipe. That there has a heat shield. The rattling was comming from there.
Now, the answer i would like to know is, was it comming from
the looseness of the heat shield itself or from inside the pipe?

That is what i would like to know. Please help me out guys. Sorry for the long
post, but i felt it was necessary to trace back my steps today.

its most likely your cat's heat shield. You could have it tack welded, you could try to strap it down with an exhaust strap (cheapest way), or just replace it with a racing cat. The strap down idea is only temporary. I used an exhaust strap for now, unill I have the money to upgrade to a racing cat and dc header.

Thanks Fizz, but none the less imma have this looked at.
Maybe it could mean an excuse to get a new exhaust

Let's say it could be internal rattling...how could that happen?

My car does the same thing, and its NOT the heat shield. Honda told me that there are times when the internal welds of an A pipe (esp. on the F22A6 dual exhaust) can come loose and cause rattles and buzz sounds.

The first thing to do is obviously check the heat shields and the flexpipe to make sure its still intact.

The second is to install a new exhaust gasket between the A pipe and the cat. and the two gaskets from the exhaust manifold. But if those don't work, its def. inside the A pipe. I spent hours trying to fix it until I heard that.

                I'm buying a new A pipe soon ($385).
