    H22A missing

    Any help would be appreciated.
I have an H22A swaped in my CB7 did it last year and everything went fine untilll now. It seems that once the engine is heated up (the fans go on) that it misses during acceleration. I will put it in gear start to go and it will sputter untill I let go of the gas a bit and bring it back up to speed.

There is no CEL (the light is not burnt)
    Fuel quality is good
    Ignition timing is good

Could it be that the throttle body/hoses are dirty.

    Help please

    when was your last tuneup?
Plugs, cap & rotor, maybe wires?

        bosch plugs?
That's a BIG NO NO in a honda motor. Get some NGK or Denso plugs. Those were the only plugs reccomended by honda for use in their motors for a ton of good reasons.
I've heard of people with all kinds of issues using bosch plugs in hondas.

Can any one confirm that the bosch plugs might be the reason.

I've run Bosch platinums and platinum-4s in my Hondas for 7 years and I've never had a problem with spark, ever. Then again, I don't have an h22. I don't see how that could really cause the problem though, a spark is a spark is a spark. I dont care if its coming from standard, platinum or even adamantium plugs. Are you sure your getting spark? What grade gas are you using? Fuel filter been replaced lately? Are you sure timing is dead-on balls accurate?

Do H22s have the same problem with EGR ports that F22s do? Just wondering. Good luck man, let us know what you find.

hmmmm. my car does this too and i also have an h22

i believe it is the o2 sensor though....prelude motors always have bad sensors

but if you find out anything else also let me know too!

I'm using 94 octane fuel, timing is dead on and yes there is spark. Another thing, the symptoms don't happen when I am reving the engine in neutral, it only seems to happen while I'm driving.

Also what are the problems with EGR ports you speak of?

On our stock engines there are ports that have to be cleaned out after a while because carbon desposits build up and don't allow gasses to flow properly or something, and it causes the engine to really bog down between about 2K and 3K rpm when accelerating. However I don't know much about H22's, I was just asking if they had the same thing... maybe someone else can answer that.

I will be testing the O2 sensor tonight but would that really cause those symptoms. I've ran the car with no O2 sensor before and it ran better than that.

                    Thanks for your help guys.

It looks like the O2 sensor might be the problem, I've taken some read outs while the engine is warm and have found that it is not putting out the recommended voltage even while reving to 1500 and past. I always get 0v as an indication. So I took it for a test drive with the sensor unplugged, now I get a CEL but the car runs a lot better except for the no vtec and rough idle.

I guess I will be ordering a new O2 sensor tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix my problem.

                        How badly is it missing?
If it isn't that bad it could be the EGR ports as said above. if it's bad enough to make the car buck back and forth it could be the dizzy itself (happend to me).
But I still say get some NGK V Power spark plugs just to make sure (they are only 8 bux for all four).
More info on what I'm talking about (the plugs):

*edit* yeah fizz, I forgot about that friggin' KS. I've had a few issues with mine when I had a bad catalitic converter. it would rattle a bit and the KS would pick that little bit of noise!

Thanks a lot for your help fizzbob7. Hopefully you are right I've been meening to chip my computer so I will go ahead and try the chipped p28 route, hopefully it will fix my problem. Although this will not happen for awhile as funds are a little short right now.

As for the plugs I will be changing them soon, too many people have recommended that to me.

This is the weirdest problem I have ever encountered as it only happens under hard acceleration and not all the time.

Fizzbob you are one hundred percent right on the symptoms so I will take your advice.
But is it bad for the egine if I still drive the car anyway. It doesn't miss under slow acceleration (very slow).

Thanks a lot for your time fizzbob7 I am going to ECU tuning in Montreal tomorrow to test drive a remapped P13 and a chipped P28 to see which I like best. I will let you know if it fixes the problem.
