weird problem

I pressure washed my engine bay everything was fine and then my lights turn on and wont go off then i poped the hood and let everying dry out will the car was running (beacause i didnt want to run down the battery cause the lights wouldnt turn off) so it stops everything is cool then my battery dies car wont start at all so i get a new battery and now i put it in and its runs but the abs and battery light is on please help thanks

This has happened to me before. I am guessing that all the dirty and crap got into the alternator. Well i guess either get a new alternator or just clean the old one. And I actually cleaned out the one that was giving me problems before and it works fine now. Pepboys sells this can of crc electric cleaner. I popped off the back of the alternator and sprayed it down a couple of times and it got the dirt off.

Oh and the abs light and battery light comes on when the alternator dosent charge.

Bruno is correct about the battery light and ABS light. If the alternator stops charging they come on. And if you had a dirty motor like he said it's probably dirty. Also if you started it when wet, you may have ruined the inside of the alternator. There should be a shop around that will rebuild it for about 40 bucks. There is here in my town. Good Luck.

Yeah..that CRC electric cleaner will displace the water that is in there (if any) and dry it out quicker also. My alternator looks like crap also, so I will most likely be cleaning it out also.

I will be doing all of this soon, as my engine bay looks like @$$.
