      bad news guys.....

on my way to work (<5 miles) about 11am, i think the clutch gave up on me.

i was slowing down to make a right turn, i shift into first gear and hear a loud pop sound. the car shuts off, so i crank it up successfully. i throw it into gear to get more onto the emergency lane and guess what, i am stranded.

i can shift it throught the gears but i go no where and the rpms rise as well as the speedometer.

after work i go and check on it, and it cranks up fine once again. when i put it in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears and let the clutch pedal out completely, there is a loud grinding/clanking noise. 1st and 2nd there is no noise.

so im assuming the clutch is shot and hopefully there is no damage to the tranny. there is only ~50k on the tranny.

and i also assume that the VSS is done since the speedo rises, right? or is that a symptom for something else?

someone please shed some light while i go and search like a mad man.

well if the clutch is done.. then its not grabbing.. but w.e the VSS is attached to is still spinning.. NO?? since the VSS is attached to the tranny? hmm i dunno.. suxs mang.. i guess pull the trans and get it replaced..

Maybe even the drive shaft from the tranny, could have snapped...

ding ding ding ding ding, we have a winnah!

after towing the whip back home courtesy of my dad's pick-up and a chain, i was able to get a decent view of the undercarriage. and what did i find? the pass. side axle had popped out.

              whew

....and i had already psyched myself into getting ready to pull the motor again
