    Timing Belt Question

I am getting my timing belt changed at a shop in my town. I called the place and they were 20 bucks cheaper than the other places I called. The guy said that it is cheaper because they use a timing belt from 98on accord instead of cb7 belt because it is cheaper. He said it has a different part number but it is basically the same thing. I have had work done there before and they do a great job. Just wondering if using a 98 belt is ligit. Any comments are welcomed. Thanks.

You, me, and everybody else here should know that $20 is not worth the risk involved. Sure, a $20 difference in price on a shift knob is cool and alright, but, really, if the car doesn't run well after a sketchball timing belt change you have a lot of beauracracy to go through just to get back to where you were originally.
        Don't be cheap.

No. The belts are not the same. The VTEC heads are taller than the non VTEC F22a and f22B2 heads, even though the blocks are the same. You can (and we do) use the 98+ Belt, #14400-PAA-A02 instead of the #14400-P0A-A01, but only on the VTEC engines. And for the love of God, do NOT use the #14400-PAA-A01 belt, as it is a Gates made piece of shit. That is probably where your mechanic is saving the money.
Your 90 Accord has a NON-VTEC F22A1,4 engine and the proper belt for it is the #14400-PT0-004. It is made by UNITTA, a Japanese company that has been making the Honda belts for 25+ years.

Honda OEM F22 timing belt is only $40 bro, water pump is like $40 too.

Ask Kabuki on prices, the man has his own shop & gets this sh*t all the time. Plus, he might be able to get it cheaper for ya.

See what you started. Ok reading all above im getting ready to pay a mechanic about $200 to replace my Timing belt Balance belt and waterpump. The brand for the Timing belt and Balance belt is Contitech made in germany, Balance belt is (13405 PT0 004 186) and TB is (14400 PT0 004 187). The water pump i bought is misleading because of how many numbers it has on it the brand from what i can tell is Paraut but it says MFG by Atsugi (OE Honda) the part number (19200 PT0 003) but it also has two other Ref. numbers on the same box so im not sure which one is the right number (19200-POB-A01 and 19200-PTO-013) Can anyone please tell me if these are the right model numbers for my cb7 and if they are decient brands or should i just stick to Honda dealership belts? It says made in Germany on them, i dunno maybe they are good? Thanks and sorry for the thread jacking.
