i took my car to honda the other day because of some weird problems! they said i need a new torque converter so i was wondering if anyone has ever done that job? or what i can might do to fix it? how hard is it to change the TC out?
yea ud have to drop the tranny. the converter bolts to the flywheel and is slined to the input shaft of the tranny. havent done one myself but im learning about it now in school. it would probably take a little more than that but i know that much.

the throttle control cable is what controls when ur tranny shifts and has nothing to do with the tc.
Ohhhh yes it does, it controls downshifts as well as fluid pressure. If the throttle kick-sown cable is too loose, not only will it cause lazy upshifts and flared downshifts but it also can cause the torque converter to slip in-and-out of lock-up and eventually destroys the TC clutch. If the shop says the torque converter is already bad, then its too late for anything else. Not only that, but when the TC does go bad, all that clutch material is floating around inside the trans and will clogg up the pick-up screen. BTW, what makes them think it is the TC? What are the symptoms you are having?
well im having a few problems but when i went i told them when holding at a steady speed around 55 or so the rpm would jump up when i stay at a constant speed but if i hit the gas just a little the rpms would drop about 300 or so then when i stay at a crusing speed the rpms would raise back up. sometimes the motor will also bogg down when taking off between 2-3k but i dont know if its related to the TC or not??
also honda said its going bad, so i dont guess it is gone yet? when it does go will i be able to move or will it just stay in neutral? would a good transmission flush help with the floating clutch fluid and to clean the pick-up screen?
