break loose the lug nuts. jack up the side of the car, install a jack stand under the car. you may want to drain the trans fluid. remove the lug nuts and wheel. break loose the axle nut(36mm socket). remove the lower ball joint cotter pin with side cutters. remove the lower ball joint castle nut. pop the lower ball joint out of the lower control arm by smacking the lower control arm at the point where the ball joint stud goes through the control arm, with a bfh.do not try to hit the bottom of the balljoint stud upward to remove the the balljoint. you will damage the ball joint. seperate the knuckle assembly from the lower control arm using a small pry bar. take care not to damage the ball joint dust boot when prying on the knuckle or swinging it over the control arm. take the axle nut off and remove the axle from the hub of the knuckle. use a small hammer to tap the end of the axle flush with the hub. again, take care not to damage the threads or splines in the axle. use a large pry bar to pop the axle out of the trans. take care not to damage the transmission oil seal (axle seal). when prying on or removing the splined axle spindle from inside of the trans. you may need to remove the bolt that attaches the shock wishbone to the lower control arm to remove the axle. when installing the new axle, lay the axle on the lower control armand install the end of the axle through the hub first. then pass the splined shaft through the oil seal being careful not to bang or nick the oil seal with the axle shaft. pick up the knuckle assemblie so its weight does not rest on the lower control arm. use the weight of the knuckle assembly pop the axle back into the trans past the snap ring. then re assemble the rest of the suspension peices in the reverse order. use new cotter pins when reassembling. refill the trans with the correct fluid and level...... or you could take it to your honda dealer and pay to have the axle changed

i suggest you loosen the axle nut before jacking up the car...easier to do it that way IMO

changing the cv axle was the easiest thing in the world it took me probly 15 minutes. but now i hear a popping on the left side when im turning. i thinks its because i have 19's and they are heavy and they put a lot of stress on the front.
