    no you gotta replace it

if that sensor indeed test bad then you gotta replace it. easiest check to do is jump ecu for trouble codes. i believe there is one for the coolant temp sensor. check the stickies (thread) for the number...thats if your check engine light is on. i symptomatic problem not not trigger a CEL.

if you put a jumper on the wire harness over there in the kick panel, the D4 light will flash any trouble codes just like the check engine light. if you'll post that code we can look it up and see what's going on instead of just guessing..

        do this

now that i think about it it might be your main relay going..does this happen on hot days or when the inside of your car is hot. im thinking that clicking if you fuel pump engaging. who know and the fact you say sometimes it does this and you can come back 30 minutes later and start it. usually a bad cooalnt temperaute sensor will give you problems when warm, but at this point who know..lol i found this article while doing an internet search which includes d4 codes. just jumps ecu for codes and look at article to see what it could be.

solder or replace your main relay..on hot day a joint seperates loosing contact..fix that 1st and then check coolant coolant temp sensor..but sounds like main relay 90% sure.
