    [D4] Flashes after Warmed

Ok I have been having problems with my D4 flashing after the car is warmed or has been running, but after the car has been running for several minutes D4 begins flashing. Its an automatic with 110,000 miles on it I have no problems with car it runs great starts all the time but im thinking it might have to do with the auto-tranny or some kind of sensor that is tripping. I checked all fluids seem to be ok just did oil change (mobil 1 synthetic) car is checked on a regular basis and is in mint condition. Also the Haynes manuel has nothing on this kind of information. So if someone could please give me some information or some help that would be cool.

Get to the diagnostic terminal. It's a wire with a usually uncovered head somewhere on your passenger side under the dash. You shouldn't have to dig for it, it should just be kinda...stuffed somewhere. Anyway this terminal will have two openings. Take a paper clip and stick one end into each side, effectively shorting the terminal (don't worry, it's not gonna harm anything). From there (and this is where it gets fuzzy for me) i THINK you turn your car on and off three times. Your check engine light should come on. Whether or not you just turn the key to "on" or turn the car completely on is something I can't quite remember. i say try both, but then again, someone else here MUST know something about it too, so wait for their post. After you do the right on/off thing, the check engine light will flash. There are two kinds of flashes. Remember this: Long flashes = 10. Short flashes = 1. So if you get 2 long flashes and 7 short ones, it's a code 27. From there, you just look up the code online. It has to be somewhere on this site, but I'm kinda too lazy to look for it. Anyone who knows better can and should correct me. Thanks.

Or wait, is that the engine diagnostic. IDK! Someone confirm this info or tell him the right way!!!

thats correct, then switch the car to the ON position and wait for the D4 to flash. a long flash denotes a 10's while a short flash denotes a 1's.

example: long long long short short=32 get back to us

code 22 is for vtec ace..

do you have a h22 or somethings with vtec. if your d4 is flashing 90% of the time is its your transmission. could be a bad soleniod, tcu, or something else. however the other 10% is usually a bad coolant temperature sensor. i think someone else is having a similar problem like you. does your idle bounce, or anything else out of the ordinary besides d4 light. usually if its a bad coolant temperature sensor you car will have trouble starting, but still could be faulty. it may be doing this when the engine is going from closed to open loop operation. link for other thread you should read. hope you figure it out.

if its 2 quick ones then its a code 2. do a search on here, and other accord boards, cause im kinda tired right now and dunno what a code 2 is. If its a faulty TCU then i got one for sale, lol.
