    auto exhaust flame thower

I am swaping a f22b1 v-tec motor in my 91 accord. I punched out the cat and bypassed the egr, and I want to hook up exhaust flame thrower. I have an extra stock coil, wires and and extra spark plug. can hooking that up damage my engine?

well it can be done . personally beware most of that fast and the furious shit aint really what they make it look out to be. First off if done wrong your car will either catch fire, blow up,backfire, run like shit, and your can allso melt your valves if done wrong hence ruining your engine .

Its been done over here in a custom shop seen the guy come back the next day when i came with my car the next day to find out what was wrong with mine he burnt 2 valves and now has uneven low compression and his car is now slow and *** . You can do it if you want just beware fast and furious valves + gas will make car go boom

personaly i wouldnt do it but if you want connect up the coil on a switch in your trunk then run a plug wire to the tip of your exaust drill a hole then weld a bolt on to screw in the plug in then your done you might need to run a litthe rich on fuel. i have also seen some one running a propane tank in their trunk and running a line out to the exaust

and running rich will cause you to run slower...

I don't mind different ideas, but at least ones you'll live through...all I'm seeing is danger, danger & no benefit for looks (in any taste) or performance.

If you go through with it man....be careful when you light it off....don't go hurt yourself or jack your car yo

I've actually set this up numerous times on old hot-rods. It won't work or won't work well on any fuel injected car, because you need to kill the ignition to let unburned fuel into the exhaust, so as soon as you kill power to the ignition, your fuel injectors shut off. Hence, no fuel in the exhaust. If you run it rich to try and get fuel in the exhaust, it'll probably just backfire a shitload and probably will burn your valves. The only way for this to work properly is to have fuel/propane spraying out of the exhaust, and lit off with the spark plug. This is how F&F did it. You'll need some sort of high pressure fuel pump, small tank to hold fuel and a nozzle and you better have some sort of check valve or solenoid to prevent fuel from dripping out later, or from any burning fuel from creeping up the fuel line. I personally find this set up dangerous, unless you are a pro and really know fuel systems and the nature of flame travel. Also, just putting a spark plug and coil back their won't work. The coil will just get hot and burn out. You need something to quickly ground/unground the coil so it actually fires the sparkplug, kinda like a mini ignition system. Those kits you see for sale have a little box that does this for you. They can be made from parts from an electronics supply store. If you want to do it on a carbureted car, it works great, you rev the motor up, kill the ignition, pump the throttle, and push the button. The rush of unburned air/fuel mixture hits that plug and WHOOSH!!! a big ass flame shoots out your exhaust. Ya just gotta make sure you don't let the motor rev down too low, or all that flame will go right back up your exhaust pipe and you get a big ass backfire. Blew out a couple mufflers before I learned this... Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it for you... it'll be expensive and a big hassle... but, it can be done.

I think I won't try it, I don't plan on doing that much work to install flamethrowers. Besides I am not really that crazy about drilling a hole in my $550 Greddy sp cat-back system. Thanks for the facts. But if I want your opinion on what looks good I'll ask for it.
