    custom intake setup w/gsr

as u guys know im in california with the strict laws anyone can have. im not about to go spend 250 for a AEM intake, i want a stock looking intake with performance.

now i have a gsr intake which is a cone and the whole air box system.

im wondering if by any means, its possible to convert it to fit my car by any means necessary...

im thinking or just take out the stock resignator put a gsr filter down there(cone) and then cover it so it wont get wet. then take my filter out in my stock air box, kinda like a hidden cold air with no HP differnce but its still stock.

has anyone ever done a custom intake setup? similar to the one i want to do?

xplode before you call me cheap, shutup hahaha jk....yes im being a little cheap here, but its worth it to keep my car stock =)
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

wow, i guess u guys are clueless, hahah dont trip. i was clueless but soo determined to use it. i really liked that honda oem used a cone filter for the gsr.

as you know the gsr filter is a concealed unit like a cone, its made that way. i put that filter into the stock tube, it was bigger so i heated the stock tube alot and stretched the rubber. then i shoved the gsr filter in there and then started working on the box.

the box itself looked as though it would fit but the way that hondas chassis curvs. well i had to chop off all the mounting bolts for the gsr intake, cut the hole hecka big and then sand down some stuff for it to fit.

now your thinking "what an idiot". well i am actually, but really u cant see any of the cuts i done, tomorrow ill seal it up with foam to hide the bad cuts i made =)

after time and time again i finally got it done, looks stock, but roars like a mo fo!!! it sounds like i hit vtec haha its soo cool, kinda scary.

tomorrow ill route the resignator to the filter and custom do a intake so that it wont be soo loud then drill a hole in my resignator for cold air (away from water) and it will be a bit quieter.

now i have a stock gsr system, literallly street legal to the eye and no cop bitches..and im still stock

on normal acceleration it feels more willing to go faster, but going on full throttle it feels as though im on a rocket. ill test with gtech if i get any differnt times at all.

so its a sucess, and took me 3 hours of watching tv, drink, and messing with my bumper and wires at the same time. it was fun. ill post a pic of my so called MOD haha

        update...

well i decided to do this another way, i got tired of a short ram cold air intake for my stock setup so i want to go CAI with the air box...damn smog and pigs.

so i found a way to put some pvc in the air box and making it look stock and running aline from the air box to the down pipe and then to the filter in the bumper.

dont kill me for having the stock air box still, its essential that i keep it for my dad not to trip and for smog and cops etc.

right now im using 3'' piping but im not sure i kinda want a 2.80 size piping but we will see.

the simplest thing to do it just remove the bottom half of the box and attach a stock-replacement K&N to the top side. $250 for a CAI? More like $160. Short rams are maybe $100 or so. I suppose if you're that concerned about noise.....
