    Toorque

I just changed my valve cover seals with the four upper seals but after putting the valve cover back i realised my torque wrecnh is garbage so i couldnt get a good reading...So I just tried to tighten it properly with a normal wrench. I know its always best to use specific torque so u dont mess up anything but is it that bad in this case ??

    Thanks

ugh.. just use common sense.. when they get snug, stop tightening.. keep in mind the size of these nuts you are putting on those thin ass studs.. they dont need to be tightened all to hell or you will snap one of the studs like MANY people on here have..

Yes they are only tightened to about 7 ft lbs. It is not much. I think its rather dangerous to hand tighten them. In the sense that that was how I broke mine, and many others have also. So you are likely to break your as well without using proper torque. Meaning you'll have to shell out some money to get new bolts/caps (which isn't too much however) It is just frustrating.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

being one of the people on here who snapped that $18 bolt.... lol .. I suggest go real easy on it, then drive around and look if you leaked any oil. Then tighted a half turn until you stop leaking oil. Then they are perfect. It's not very tight at all. One finger on the wrench is all it takes.

well the acorn nutz. here's what i do. FEEL, SEE and TAKE IT EASY

snug the valve cover on, making sure it fits nicely and evenly.,

to tighten them, look at it sink down, the rubber gasket going into place. as u torque it should be easy..

basically just snug, look at it grasp and tighten and let go.

after all is done, use ur hand to wiggle the valve cover or whatevers to see and ck if its okay.
          hahahahah

When I did mine...I just got it finger tight and then wrenched it about half a turn or so....seemed to work for me...
