Re: EGR Valve???
This may seem kinda weird, but does it do it after you press the brakes or does it do it ay point in time whether you used the brakes ior not? I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be a small leak in the line that goes from the throttle body to the brake master cylinder. I spent days looking at and testing the typical culprit engine componenets and everything was fine. I then tried to focus my attention on establishing the pattern of what made it loop in idle and it seemed to do it if I either had my foot on the brake or if I had just finnished pressing the brake pedal. If that's the same case for you, then look at that vacuum line and possibly even the master cylinder.Originally posted by Audio Accord

Most of the time we see this symptom be caused by the fast idle valve, in one of two ways. 1) The valve is plugged or broken and won't operate properly. You can clean it out usually. 2) The coolant level is low, even slightly, and the fast idle valve is near the top most point in the engine (bolted to the intake manifold) and will get the air bubble first. I've experienced the latter myself, which tipped me off to the small coolant leak I fixed this morning...
