Hi, I've been reading this forum for a little while, just never got around to posting in it. Well now I finally have a reason too.
So I was driving home from labour day long weekend camping and just as I was pulling in to town I noticed a power loss, as I slowed down it became evident that I was only running on 3 cylinders.
So I drove my car to my buddy's house (closest place and he has a garage with air tools). So we ripped apart the engine and low and behold there was about an inch hole in my exhaust valve (I'll post a picture when I get the chance). We couldn't find the missing piece so hopefully it just blew out the exhaust.
So now I'm looking to rebuild the engine (can't part with my Accord). So now I'm left with a few options.
1. Try to find a new head (difficult but a few cool options H22, H23, F22b). But then I'm still looking at an old head that may have its own problems.
2. Buy new valves and get the head machined. Its my understanding that if I chose this, then the head would be like new.
Also I'm not exactly sure what machining a head all entails. Can anyone help me out. I'm looking for the most cost effective method. If I'm going to put time and money in, I want this to last a little bit. Also this is my only car so I'm walking for now.
Seeing as now is the time to do any work I'm also looking in to a few things. From reading the forums these things are on my list of things to do:
-a6 intake manifold, cams, and ECU
-bored throttle body
-already removed the AC and not going to put it back on.
Any other suggestions?
Oh yeah, I have a 90 Accord EXR (Canadian EX) f22a4 5 spd.
Thanks
