    Rack & Pinion: PLEASE HELP!

I did everything right, and installed a rebuilt unit today...

I had to remove my downpipe and skidbar...

    Everything went in great!

Now to anyone who has done this...

Does the steering feel tight when its in park or at a complete stop?

I need to know, because my old unit was kind of loose in park and at a stop.

Its tighter than usual in park, but on the road its as loose as Ms. Loveless

I wasn;t paying attention for a pressure release valve or anything... did I overlook that?

LMK if you think everything is OK.

yeah it does...theres no pressure valve either so as long as youre not leaking fluid, you should be fine...i did mine like 2 weeks ago.

I won't do one as it will probably be incorrect...

I was on it for 6 hours...

                    Hey bro,

I am having the same problem it sounds like you were having; play in the steering wheel, and depending on which way I would turn the wheel, it would stay on that side (Honda Tech told me my steering rack is loose). But they wanted $1500 to replace the unit. Fuck that. I'll do it myself!

How much trouble is it replacing the power steering rack, if I have the Hanyes manual, and am relatively competent?

Did you get the replacement rack from an autoparts store like Advanced auto parts, or Auto Zone?

                    Thanks, I appreciate any help!

                    Daniel

there is a rack guide adjustment. that basically puts drag on the rack, you can try adjusting that.

Has anyone done a manual rack and pinion swap before? I've been thinking about doing that since I don't have any PS anyway.

This is my guess, also make sure you connected the speed sensor back up correctly, ps lines run to and from it.

where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.
