    Small gas filling problem..

This had never happen before up until about 3 weeks ago or so..

When I go to put gas in my car, I cannot squeeze the handle thingy at full throttle coz it shuts off after about 3 seconds of pumping. I know it'll do it sometimes if you start out too fast, but even if I gradually start off, it'll stop like it's topping off.

It SEEMS like the gas is going in too slow, but it's not.. you can hear it echoing when it's going down the pipe but when I put gas in slowly (half full speed) it's fine but it takes a while to fill up the tank.

What could be causing this? My buddy said it's air pressure coming out which is making it stop and equal out the air out to the gasoline in.

Is there a way to solve this? It never happened up until 3 weeks ago.

dont push the pump handle all the way in, pull it out a bit...

that only happens to me at certain pumps, and the gas station dude suggested the above, because thats what he does.

people that i know that work/have worked at a gas station says that it usually does that as the tanks under the station get low on fuel..

          I like that answer.

Try filling with the handle turned upside down.

The problem isn't your car, it's the nozzle.
It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

Whenever you remove the gas cap, wait a few seconds for the fumes to escape. Its probably the nozzle on the gun. On the topic of refuelling, never top off, there must be room for the fumes, stopping filling when the gun stops.

that would never happen down here.. nobodys stocking up on gas from the hurricane!

People are retards... I wish that one of the people that go and fill up 18 5-gallon containers since they think the world is going to end has a few of them spill in their car on the way home.

Sux when the people who want to evacuate cant because joe blow has an extra 40 gallons just incase he has to power the whole city for a few weeks... inconsiderate pricks!

lil off topic, but back on topic.... does everyone elses gas caps usually let off quite a bit of pressure when you take it off? I've had it do it on both of my cars, but never noticed it much on any other cars.

yah, my gas gap does that, especially if I'm low on fuel. Doesn't happen if I'm not too low though.
