from what i remember u have to roll the car or push it till like 5mph. Now with u in the car push the clutch in and shift into first but keep the clutch disengaged. Put the key in the ignition and start cranking it about a second after u start cranking it pop the clutch out and it should start i believe. You never said if u had a 5-speed or not so if u have an auto just roll the car in drive and then try cranking it...maybe add a little gas too

lol, if the alternator belt is off and the batt is dead, the car will NOT run, weather u pop start it or not.

have it towed, there is no way a car will run w/out the alternator working..

when my corolla alternator died, we brought a full battery to it and ran it off that, it was enough to get the car home.

Yeah, the car isn't going to start. For the record though in a manual you don't even have to crank it. Just turn the ignition to the on position. Then get the car rolling 5 - 10 mph with it in first gear and the clutch pedal pushed all the way in, and after it's going a decent speed just let the clutch pedal out and it will start up. Also if your car battery went completely 100% down you will have to press the gas pedal a couple times since there will be no gas available since it's electronically controlled stuff. I had that happen to me before ... it was so bad that when my car started up my tach and speedo didn't even work for like 10 seconds lol.

This has got to be one of the dumbest threads i've EVER read!!!

DO NOT. Let me repeat, do NOT crank your car when trying to pop start it!! You CAN NOT pop start an auto at low speeds!

                If you have a manual......

                Turn key to on position.
Put car in SECOND GEAR, push in clutch, and push. Once rolling, pop the clutch, and give some gas.
                VEROOM. Your car will start.
(first gear works, but second is a LOT easier)

                ALSO....

If your alternator is not working, and your car died, IT WILL NOT POP START........PERIOD.

DO NOT TOW IT HOME. For the price of the tow, you can buy a BRAND NEW battery, or just have yours charged for free! Just put a charged battery in your car, start it up, and drive it home without blasting your radio.

                once home, fix alt. belt.

                CMON guys....

ALSO. With an auto, you CAN NOT pop start it. It is possible to pop start it when going 30mph and above, but it's damn hard. You just leave it in gear untill rpm are high, and it will kick on itself. (NOTE- THIS IS SUPER hard to do, and won't work on all cars!)
                Noobie my ASS.

Yeah, people should really be a little more understanding. Just remember at one point in time we were all n00bs so just think about how it would have made you feel if people were asses to you when you asked a legitimate question.
