Here's a few pics for you. Just need the EGT, WBO2, and adj. cam gear and I'll finally be ready to do some tuning.

It's not entirely pointless. A slight boost in pressure on a factroy motor helps with atomization. That alone helps keep cylinder temps. down a little, allows more ignition advance, allows a lower grade gas to be possible (in some cases), and because of those changes, it allows the engine to make more power. Not a lot of power, but every little bit helps, plus the car will already be setup for a higher power setup in the future. Dumb?!?!? Maybe to some but I don't think so.

Ha, thanks for the compliment. Sometimes the goodies that the boosted engines are using can also be of use on NA motors...if they are installed and setup right. Otherwise it's just a big waste of time and money.
Sorry I missed your post before....I took it off cause I like ease of maintenance. It takes less than an 1hr to put a timing belt on from begining to end as it sits right now. The only concern is rocks or other debris getting inbetween the belts and the gears while I'm driving, but I try to be careful about that. Also when the adj. cam gear goes on, adjustments will be made with ease. I can keep a good look on the belts, gears, and seals and fix anything before it gets bad. It's a maintenance thing. I don't really recommend others running without a timing cover, but since I do all my own work and don't mind puttin a new engine in if this one blows, it's really not a big deal for me. It's not safe to do, but it sure makes work easier.Originally posted by N9netwoAccordACCLUDE91... i notice your not running a timing cover.... does that hurt anything? or did you just take it off for looks?

Yes we all know that you enjoy blowing motors ACCLUDE91.
. So, did you get a chance to tune with it?
Clarifications: I do not believe its a useless mod. I believe that getting one and leaving it set the way it come makes it a useless mod. Thats because most are set to stock psi. It can give some more HP but nothing to get excited about, IMO. I think its "money in the bank" for more serious future mods.

Na, it's gonna be a while till I get any tuning done. Still need the EGT's, WBO2, and a ECU to mod. Got everything else already tho. I'm not expecting major gains, but the knowledge and experience is priceless which is the reason I'm doing it.
If you set the FPR, yes you can get some gains out of it. Factory is 46PSI and mine is set to about 52PSI. I think in the picture above it's closer to 57PSI, but I backed it off a little more. I also installed a seperate fuel pressure gage before the fuel rail so that I can monitor the pressure on both gages to ensure accuracy. The one on the FPR should be fine, but I'm an un-trusting bastard when it comes to parts. Just feel better being able to see the pressure both before and after the fuel rail so in the event of a fuel system problem, it'll be easier to diagnose.
And just to clarify....I only blow up the motors that I no longer need

Not sure the brand, but it was CHEAP!!! $30 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3733%26fvi%3D1
It works fine. So far my only complaint is that when you floor it real quick, the pressure drops like 1-3 PSI for a split second before the set rpessure resumes as it should and a $150 FPR isn't gonna help that out a lot so oh well. As far as quality, it seems like a pretty decent unit. We'll see how long it holds up for tho. The good ol' endurance test really shows a products true faults so we'll see how it holds up.
Here's a few more pics of the second gage installed on the filter. I had to relocate the "black box" to fit it, but it was really easy and straightforward.
Also started winterizing the car. swapped the old hood back on, but it's still a sexi bitch.
I still need to put a thermostat back in it. It's been running too cold lately(yes it is possible to run TOO cold).
The work is neverending. I'm sure most of you guys know what I'm talking about!
