    Bad coolant leak...

The other night I was driving, and when I pulled up to a light, all this smoke was coming from under my hood. I pulled into the nearest parking lot and there was a big trail of antifreeze behind me. I want back to check it out today and all the upper hoses seem ok. I started to pour water in and after about half a gallon, it started to gush out. Under the car, it was running down the engine/transmission mating surface. All the hoses I could see were fine. Are there any hoses right in between the engine and transmission? Or does it sound like I cracked my block? I'm gonna get as much of it inspected tomorrow as I can (as in, anything we can do without taking it apart)

if u didn't turn the car off as soon as u saw smoke then yea u could have some problems. most likely a hose u can't c. i had a few coolant issues and they all turned out to be hoses.

Its probably comming from the bypass hose. Its located right underneath the distributor.

But would that mean my water pump is bad then? Cause otherwise I wouldn't see a reason for there to be a need for water to come out the bypass

you need to get the car on a lift. there are lots of hoses that flow water through them. It could be a heater hose, an oil cooler hose, the lower radiator hose...

mrhonda's suggestion seems to fit this pretty well. If you remove the distributor you'll see the hose and that area better.
