cracked front torque strap (mount thingy)

    Hey,

Ok. So my engine is vibrating a hell of a lot. I checked that front motor mount (torque strap) and it's extreamly cracked.

I bought the part OEM from HONDA and I need to know how to replace it (esp. some experience from someone who has done it before).

Btw, you guys think I should make that front mount polyurethane before I put it in?

    Thanks guys,
    T.T.

You didnt even need o buy onefrom honda let alone the dealer i personally would have set the mount down and filled it up with poly urethane filler from phatdoughnuts diy motormount filler thread. It even works great when you need to get rid of torque engine flex which is good for racing.

Just make sure that when you fill the mount up fill em all and let it set right balance for a complete 24hours. Just make sure you ducttape one side of each mount water proof it and try to use rubber glves when it gets on your hands it will stay for a very long time.

okay i'll answer your question for you. good job buying a genuine honda mount. they last long and vibrate the least... Remove the top and bottom 17mm bolts from the mount. The bottom bolt is tough to get to, so you may need an extension bar to get to it. If you're from the salt belt, I would spray both bolts with penentrating fluid and let them sit for a while. The new rod should go right back in place of the old one. Put the bottom bolt in first, then you may have to >>lightly<< jack the engine forward or backward to get the top bolt in. btw, if the front mount was gone, you've prolly ruined the rear one...

thanks a lot for the answers. =) I'll check my rear motor mount. Since that one actually holds weight...how would I go about replacing that?

              Thanks

you should when decelerating or in reverse... mine did, and it was annoying.

lol. I had my ideas. Ie. Like jack up the engine using the pan and then remove the torque strap...but just wondering if there was another way.

thats the easiest way, unless you want to take out the whole motor?

I have to change mine too. You can see it move like crazy just revving the engine. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my semi-sluggish shifts. Good luck.

you can take it out without jacking anything up. Like i keep trying to tell people on this site. it does not support engine weight. its for torsional motion only
