    what to do about these?

My transmission is cracked so my fill plug won't tighten, so I have a hell of a leak. I don't understand how it could be leaking out the fill plug when I put in 2 1/2 quarts like it's supposed to be, but it is. My questions are, how would I fix it, and should I just leave it alone until it gets down below the fill level?

this is the crack and how much it's leaking:

I've also got something on the timing belt, and I don't know what it is or how it could be there. From what I can see the waterpump isn't leaking, the crankshaft seal is new so that shouldn't be it, the camshaft seals are new so those shouldn't be it, so I guess maybe it's rubbing on something, but I can't see what, so maybe something on the bottom... I'm wondering if maybe there could be something it's binding on.

Could one or the other of them be the reason why my car is going through siezures sometimes?

Dang, not sure what the heck is up with that timing belt.. you def. need to get that checked out. Take off the timing cover, and see whats up. maybe a tensioner is on incorrectly or is seizing up.

The transmission bolt, put some thread tape on it or gasket sealer and let it dry for a lil while. How'd the tranny crack? overtightening.

if there an actual crack and u want to cheap out use jb-weld. and i would def get that timing belt in order. doesnt even look like its on the cam gear right. good luck.

yes, it's as on as it gets, the reason it looks off is probably because you're looking at the front side of it where it hangs off because it's a GSR belt which is 2mm wider than the F and H series belts. I took the timing belt cover off and looked around. There's nothing rubbing unless aero3685 is right and the tensoner is the problem. It could be siezing, I should have used OEM... It's new and seemed well built, but it was Koyo, not the OEM supplied NSK. I still have my old one, I may have to put that one back one. I still don't see how it would sieze though, and the bolt was tightened to OEM spec and the balancer shaft tensoner isn't binding so it seems unlikely for that to be it, and the belt isn't overtightened because there's still a bit of slack to it. Another interesting thing about it is it rubs off, it's not the belt that's getting melted and bubbling or whatever you want to call it... but I don't see what could be getting on it... there's nothing close to it, so the only thing I could figure was when the first of the grease got out of the boot (there's a thread on that here, apearantly it's common, and I wouldn't be suprised if I overpacked it a bit) it might have gotten on there and that may have been what did it. Think?

Take the tranny to a welder and get it magnafluxed/tig welded...

As far as the cam gear... when I installed my AEM model this is exactly what my timing belt did.

            I just removed it.

Hum, just outta the blue huh? Nice. I messed around under the timing belt covers and the only thing I figured out was the side of the timing belt was rubbing against the balance belt tensoner, but that wouldn't have been making those marks since that's the side and the marks are up top. I made a spacer, shouldn't be a problem anymore... not that it really was anyway... I guess... It also wasn't rubbing against anything, there was nothing that could have dripped on it unless it was that grease thing I thought I was saying before. I'm going to try a new idle air controller and undo the coolant bypass on it and see if it'll stop my high idle that happens if I get on it at all. Not sure if that has anything to do with why it was having those damn siezures though. I checked my spark plugs. They were beautiful, never seen better, so I'm thinking air and fuel aren't likely, and there was nothing left unburnt on there so I'd say it probably wasn't missing... right? Timing was freshly done and perfected so it's not that. Any other ideas on why a car would have a siezure ore why the idle would stay over 2,000 RPM after driving a little heavy?
