    Speed sensor problem

I bought a speed sensor for my cb7 and it worked for about 8 months. Is it possible that it went bad or is there a fuse that has blown? My speedometer just stopped working today.

Is the check engine light on?

Never trust anyone else to work on your car.

no the check engine light didnt come on. Last night I tapped on the gauge cluster and the thing started working again. My cluster might be going bad. I don't know....

I dont think its the Vehicle Speed sensor.
If it would have been the VSS, then check engine light would have came up.

To me it sounds like you are having a poor electrical connection.
First check the Electrical Connections (should be a 3-P connector, not sure) clean them up.
NCR (?) makes some connection cleaner solution you may want to pick up.

my speed sensor seems to be going out also, mostly during cold weather and right after warming up the car. the check engine light doesn't come on though. instead, the S-light blinks when the speedo stops working. i've heard that the S-light indicates the VSS goind bad

To my knowledge, the S-light indicates problems with the Transmission TCU...

The S light comes on when your VSS fails. The S light and/or the D4 light are like the CEL version of the TCU. However if it's VSS, you should also get a CEL at the same time.

I just replaced my sensor yesterday and everything seemed to be working ok. I was driving today and all of a sudden my speedo went back to zero AGAIN. Like it was doing before, the CEL came on after a couple of minutes and the engine seemed to dog out as well as the idle dropped to around 400 rpm and started hunting between ~300-450 rpm vice the normal steady 650 rpm. Could a faulty battery cause the problems I seem to be having? I was under the hood and smelled something like electronics burning...I work with electronics for the Navy and know that smell.

Not to thread steal, but mine is not working too, I replaced the cluster, the speed sensor switch, BUT not the sensor its self. A local shop around here wants around 200 bucks for the damn thing. If anyone has one that works, I've got a 1990 Accord LX 4 door. I'd be greatly appreciative if someone could help me out, I've got cash in hand. Thanks
