    Driveaxle installations problems HELP!!!

I am currently in the process of redoing my passenger side driveaxle. I bought a new one, not a remanufactured one because I got a pretty good deal. I took the old one out and everything was going fine. But now comes time to put the new one in and the inner side wont go all the way in the transmission, it has about one inch left until the clip will snap in. I tried but it wont budge. What am i doing wrong? Please help. Thanks.
PM me if you found this!!

Try greasing it up before installing it. Then line it up and push quickly against the drive axel.

Yeah, try puttn' some tranny fluid (ATF/MTF) on all the grooves that enter the tranny. BTW, you may want to compare axles just to make sure it's the right one (you'd be surprised sometimes esp. when you THINK you get the right part - even the dealer has given me wrong parts).

Also check the oil seal on the tranny. Mine had a *TINY* tear from one guy pulling it out and pushing it in carelessly and I didn't notice until a few weeks later that I had a leak then I had to do it all over again (PITA ~ but oh well, had to do it). Now I do it all myself + the seal is cheap to replace.

NoSloCB7: Nice sig ... love that character along w/ stewart. LOL.

Good point about the drive axel seal. Go ahead and replace it while the drive axel is out. It is very simple to do and prevents leaks. It is actually easier to install the drive axel when it is bolted to the spindle/rotor. That way you can use the rotor to push against when installing the drive axel into the trans.

aight guys i tried putting in the old one that i had just taken out and it did the same thing, went in until it had about an inch to go then it stopped. so i figure it is the right part and they look identical. so i lubed up the new one and it still had trouble going in but i got it. thanks for the tips, i guess i just wasn't putting enough muscle into it. kind of hard to do in awkward posistions under a car.

just test drove it and no more clicking for me.

              what is a BFH?

Usually I just hold the axle with both hands and give it a few good pushes and they snap right in. Make sure all your splines are lined up and your snap ring isn't screwed up, good luck.

I had the same problem at one time, give it a little push with some Trans fluid on the spline shaft and if I can recall, I *think* something has to be lined up or something.

yeah sometimes the axles are a pain to get in all the way. Sometimes I use a piece of wood or something with a rag over the end, and hit it with a hammer to get it to pop in. I make sure that its lined up and that I dont puncture the boot obviously though.
