Battery died when parked for winter...

okay, i stopped driving my 91 exr at the beginning of september cuz i went to school. so i can home the second week of october and started her up, and no problem at all. i went home this past weekend and went to unlock the door with my remote...and nothing happed, no beep beep. so i look in to see my scanner not blinking. so i manually open the door and the alarm doesnt go off...so i put the key in the ignition and try to turn it over and nothing. so i jumped my car with my dads and i let it run for about 6 mins or so, then i took it around the block and then back into the driveway. turn it off. and then try to turn it back on again and nothing. no clicking noisess, nothing. so i guessing that the battery died...but it doesnt make sense, because its just been sitting there. and the battery was replaced in february 2005. it was like 950 cranking amps, it is a really good one. im just confused cuz no lights were left on or anything. any suggestions?

Is it maintenance-free? If it's the kind that takes water, did you check the water levels? However, know that running the plates dry on a non-maintenance-free battery typically kills it.

It's possible it's dead. It happens, even to new batteries. You might just take it to an auto parts store and have them test it. Or back to where you got it and have them replace it under warranty (pro-rated, probably, but better than nothing.)

parasitic draw.. (corrosion and shit) can suck the life out of a battery... if its a new battery.. clean up the terminals and stuff and charge it up... if it wont hold a charge and keeps going flat.. time for a new one.. (just my .02 cents) good luck

Even if the car is turned off doesnt mean that some circuit die.In fact, your computers dont just shut off.One example is, everytime you turn th ecar on, doesnt the clock say the time its suppose to?thats cause the computers dont just die, they keep memory. It is totaly normal for a car to be sitting that long and the battery dies, because the computers draw power to keep them "awake".

keep in mind you have an alarm too, which uses the battery.. the same thing happened to mine too when my car was down before i did my swap.. its not that big of an issue.. just get it recharged and live your life..

You need to charge that battery on a car battery charger. The alternator in your car won't recharge a dead battery. Driving around for 6 minutes isn't magically going to recharge your battery.

Your alarm probably drained your battery. You should never leave a discharged battery in freezing weather because the water inside it will freeze and crack the plates.
