    weird idle when cold

i have a 92 accord, when it's cold out, like snowy weather. I start my car, and after a little bit the idle will rise and fall from normal idle to around 2,000 rpms. It sounds like someone is reving the engine but it just does this automatically.
I have an intake and exhaust if this does anything at all?,

Help or info would be greatly appriciated.

sounds like an iac valve or ur FIT valve is clogged. juss use some carb cleaner on ur intake and unscrew the top to ur FIT valve and carb clean it...idle will drop when u use cleaner so b sure to keep it up by reving

Damn....50mph never looked so good. haha

yeah iv'e used some carb cleaner, but i'll try it with that FIT valve.

what are the procedures with the Fit valve, where is it?

its called the FIV valve, and there's a write up on it in this site.

check coolant levels also, mine does it too and i've got an H23 Intake Manifold, but i kno why its doing it.......mine was from a yard and i never replaced it so i took apart my brand new accord one and swaped internals....worked fine but theres still a Vac leak around the top of the seal....this was only gonna be temp till i could afford a new one but haven't so its just a madder of getting a small flat head and turning the FIV down here and there because it seems to keep undo it self time after time......IMO get a new on that way u wont have to go through this hassell and listen to your car rev, and potentaily hurt the motor from constant reving in cold weather before its fully warmed up.....good luck

there is an idle screw in your throttle body right underneath all of the vacuum lines. Check that, every now and then mine will come loose some how and cause the up and down idle when the car warms up a bit. So check that out.

                      Sounds like raditor, coolant problems....

you very well most likely have air in your coolant lines...bleed and refill your radiator - heater on high, wait till fans kick on, check idle, then let car cool, top off coolant...check idle again.

This was my problem when i got the car last week.
Cold weather has effects on idle at start up...always, always let warm up/idle then drive off...

I'm not 100% sure but isn't that the "cold idle valve"/ fast idle valve? When it is cold it makes your idle go up a bit to warm the engine up... I think. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Sorry in advance if I am wrong.. Later..

Lol, you mean the fast idle valve?

Well, first try the coolant refill/bleed the screw...(See Manual). If that didnt stabilize your Idle, it could be -

...your FIV inside rings are shot...
open it up and check them...you could possibly be leaking coolant/air through the FIV...again, from air in the coolant lines...
                          then, replace the FIV.

                          Good luck!

yeah, i'll check most of that, anymore info would be greatly needed.

Because it's pretty annoying pulling up to a stop sign and having the idle bump up and down, and having people look at you like your an ass hole, lol.

                            Thanks for the imput!!
