    Trans Year?

is there any way to find out what year a trans is? my car has a auto to manual swap and its getting rebuilt right now but the guy rebuilding it says that 90-93 are not the same internally. so i need to find out the exact year of the trans.

My guess would to be to check the VIN number and call up the Honda dealership and ask them. I did not realize the trans had different parts for different years. What did he say was different?

well im getting 3rd gear replaced, all the brass rings, all syncros, and a few other things, i also thought all 90-93 was the same but im thinking it might have been from a prelude or something, and i need to look for a code on the trnas since it is not the original trans

the transmission code on the clutch housing will tell you. It should say something like H2A5, H2A4 or H2U5. the 5 and 4 mean DX/LX or EX and the "U" means LX or EX wagon with EX gearing and a smaller final drive ratio. post it on here and someone or myself will answer. and yes, the transmissions are slightly different from 90-93 but mostly when it comes to automatics. its kinda important to know what transmission you have when it comes to 3rd, 4th and 5th gears because the ratios are different for DX/LX and EX transmissions. I dont think the synchros are different, but the gears definately are and I would recommend the EX gears so you will tach a little higher in those gears.

That'll help in the gearing differences.
