    Clutch Questions

I am looking for another transmission since my synchros are going, and if i get one with higher mileage, i prolly should do the clutch. Do you have to do the flywheel @ the same time? And as far as the clutch stages, i can figure out that 10 is all out racing, but whats the difference between 0,1 and 2? Thanks

when shifting from 2-3 w/clutch fully engaged(to the floor) it grinds for a split second. I cant hear it or anything, just feel it through the shifter. If I am shifting and leave it in neutral until the revs drop, then shift it into 3rd, it will do it fine. And ive asked on this board, and accordinglydone.com, and everyone agrees that it is the synchros. My transmission has about 250k on it, and only 3 year old clutch, so guessin it is them.

I am changing it tomorrow...I dont have a garage or tools where I am, so I can only work on it on weekends. If it doesnt, I'll try adjusting the clutch. Thanks

I'm wondering how you guys plan on adjusting the self-adjusting hydraulic clutch?

It's just that the only time you would need to adjust the free play is if you drastically changed it when replacing the lcutch master cylinder. Under normal operation, it won't change by itself.

No, It doesn't. That's the point of self adjusting. It works by pushing more fluid in to the slave cylinder as the disc wears. Then when the clutch is replaced the Slave cylinder piston is pushed back in.

                Oh well.
Like I said, the FREEPLAY is adjustable, but doesn't change the operation at all. It just changes where the freeplay stops at. If the system needs to be bled, then do it. Adjusting the freeplay won't help though.

try double clutching in and out of gears, that usually takes care of syncro grind, if it still grinds the same you know its somehting else

Well tranny fluid helped a little...its prolly the same, just less in my mind. But yeah, I am just trying to be careful shifting to 3rd now.

I have a horrible tranny problem. When I put the clutch to the floor, and put it in 2nd or 3rd, it comes out of gear when I let the clutch out. So I have to hold the shifter down real hard for it to stay in gear. And when I let off the gas when it's in 2nd or 3rd gear it pops it right out of gear everytime. It sux real bad.
I got an F22B tranny with 50,000 miles I'm swapping in it. Any suggestions for a clutch. I need one that can hold some power because I'm boosting it when I get some money saved up.

im haven i clutch issue also, plan to get an act clutch in april but i dont kno if it will last that long.

                          my clutch is doing this.........

when clutch not engage it makes a tweating bird sound.

clutch does not slip or u can not get into the gears without pressing clutch, it works fine.

                          also.......

when i do engage the clutch the first 1-2inches, its spongy, after that its a normal press to engage. once i let my foot off it, it doesnt travel all the way up, it just travels from the floor to the point where it engages normal, it doesnt go back up the 1-2inches . i have hit tap it a few times or use my foot to lift up on it.

anyone kno what this might be?

                          clutch need to be bleed?
                          thro bearings?
                          what?

im taking a class on automotive and i just finish an exam on trannys and clutches (i still didnt understand the shit), im not good with clutch knowledge

I thought I replied to this before, but i guess not... It works when you push the clutch pedal in, let it into neutral, let off, press again, and put it in 3rd. BUT...for the first half of the pedal travel, it doesnt do anything..then for the second half, it engages. So I am going to adjust the pedal sometime soon. Hopefully I will have good news.
