it could be that your heater core is not heating up. maybe your knob is actually broken. also check the valve along the coolant line that go into the firewall (under the intake mani). it is known to get stuck closed. that valve should be attached to a cable which is attached to the knob. it should turn and open as you rotate the knob. good luck.

You could also check the solenoid that lets the coolant into the heater core. Sometimes that doesnt open.

Check your thermostat!!!!!
Sticking thermostat will do it evertime. The car will heat up but no coolect circulates....when the car is warm you should squeeze the top radiator hose and holding on the the bottom hose you should feel the pressure in it from you squeexing the top hose. If you dont then you dont have coolent circulating. Also check your coolent level. And if you have enough coolent and you have flow then you need to check your heater core and make sure coolent is making it to the core.
This heating system is Super easy... Few componets and fewer hoses to follow should be a snap
And one last question..... when u swapped the engine did u put a new water pump on? IF NOT YOU SHOULD HAVE !!!! that engine set for who knows how long....... so it is always a rule of thumb that you change the water pump and timing belts on a "used" engine.....
And it is cold enough that the engine may not overheat with out circulation.....
Hope some of this helped

Originally posted by pat nubenfor the record it was the valve on the line on the firewall, it was rusted stuck, so i just used rust penetrant and wiggled it back and forth and now it works, thanks for all the input
Yes.
By the firewall, there is a O-Hook that hooks around that cable to pull, or close the heater vents for the car...
your cable could be stuck...like my Accord...so all you gotta do is unhook that O and pull the levertowards the front...
FIREWALL ------------O unhook pin, pull lever towards front of car...heat should work better...temp fix for winter!
