Oil Light!

Alright, I'm driving today and the oil light starts to flicker on and off. I just had the oil changed last week, I put a new intake on (generic brand) and installed it myself. The light comes on when i start to brake, then flashes on and off as sson as i start driving. I checked the oil level and its exactly where it should be, even though it seems a little thin.

Not sure what could cause this, i know like three months ago my mechanic told me that the head seal was getting a VERY small leak, not anything to worry about, since it is 14 years old. I don't think this could be the cause. Could it be that water go in the intake, it has a really shitty filter on it and its wet out today. ANy help is great.

Well, the light comes on when the oil pressure drops below a certain point. Since you checked and it had enough oil, i'd guess it's either your oil pump (though that is REALLY rare) or the oil pressure sending unit.

you kinda contradicted yourself there..

people need to realize that the oil light has NOTHING to do with oil LEVEL.. its strictly a pressure light.. get the above things checked out as stated by gus.. good luck with it..

Sometimes if the level drops to far, it will lose enough pressure to make an oil light go off. Used to happen in my old car all the time and i've seen it in several VW's and a couple other Accords. It's just the easiest thing to check first

if you let your oil level get THAT low, you shouldnt be driving..

happen to me with my 90ex coupe,but it didnt flicker it just stayed on constant.it would never shut off.i switched out the pressure sensor and it shut off.good luck.
