    a/c recharge

i have a 91 ex,does anyone know a round about price for getting my a/c recharged, its blowing warm air.is it excpensive?thanks

Depends on why it leaked out. Refrigarant should never leak out thus needing a "recharge" you should take it somewhere to have the leak found, stoped, system vacummed, and filled.

Take it to an A/C shop. 90% of the time if it's not cold, there's a leak. The other 10% it's a broken compressor, low/high pressure switch, or other electrical item.

no you should never need to "recharge" an A/C. "Recharge" is what topping off a system with a small leak. The A/C system should never leak and never need a recharge. I still see old 1984 Olds Cutlass's with their original R12 system blowing ice cold that has never been touched since the day it left the assembly line.

If your gas is low, you have a leak, and you need to fix it.

Systems that need "recharges" are normally old R12 systems that where converted to R134A. The R134A molocules are smaller then the R12 molocules so they escape faster threw smaller holes then R12 would. Sometimes a leak is so small that R12 won't leak threw it but R134A will.

Those conversion kits suck in my opinion. Converting to R134A is pointless and I'll tell you why. If you system is ice cold and still has R12 in it, Why convert? If your system was R12 and leaked it all out that means that it has a nice size hole in it, what makes you think that adding R134A that has smaller molocules will last any longer?

If you system was R12 and leaked out all the refrigerant what you need to do is, find the whole, replace the part that leaks, replace all your o-rings, replace your dryer, vacum the system, and fill it with R134A. Then it will be Ice cold and shouldn't leak again.

I "recharged" my ac system for about 200 bucks, but the bastards forgot to mention the leak! those lazy bastards, they probably didn't even check for it. That's the last time I ever go to those jerks.

my friend recharged mine with r12. but its not cheap! i only paid 30 for the bottle and mine is dead cold. there is r134 conversion which is co..but there is a new one thats out that is better than r12, and r134 its called like d12 or something i forgot. but it smore efficient and is compadable with both.

                        havent seen it around yet.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
