    Clunking noise on acceleration??

Before I get flammed for being on this board with a Toyota, keep in mind i'm here because I have a love for CB7's like everyone else here.

Now to my problem. When I accelerate from a dead stop or just pump the gas while crusing I hear a clunking noise which sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side.

I checked my CV boot and sure enough it was torn and there was boot grease all over my rim, wheel well and struts.

I just had my right half axle replaced with a remanufactured one today and the clunk is still there in full effect. The shop told me it took them 3hrs and 3 mechanics to fix it! He told me the axle was melted on and it was probably caused by NY winters due to road salt and whatnot.

This begs the question, is something else wrong with the car or did they do a shotty job. Please any responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

So your axle is ok now? And it still does it?? I'd say maybe motor mounts, check your tranny fluid if you haven't.

Why didnt they just replace the whole axle? Or do you mean they replaced the passenger side "half"?

Since the noise is still there, check any suspension bolts to make sure they are tight. Also check the sway bar endlinks since they make an annoying noise like that when they are worn out/away.

Jack up the car, put it on jackstands, and try to wiggle parts, that usually works aswell.

Yup...they replaced it with a remanufactured one. I had a feeling it could be a motor mount but wanna make sure.

edit: checked the tranny fluid and it's fine.

Yea they replaced the passenger side half axle...Sway bar endlinks the same as bushings? Cause if so they were replaced a few months ago.

I don't have any jackstands or floor jack sadly. My dad didn't take it when we moved from NY

            The clunk is finally gone.

2 axles, and 3 motor mounts & $770 later the clunking is gone.

I went back cause the clunking was still there after they replaced the axle the 1st time. Turns out they did give me a bad axle but that wasn't what was causing the clunking.

It was my motor mounts. I had to replace 3. The front, rear and torque (dogbone) mounts.

So finally the clunking is gone but now i'm broke and can't install my lowering springs for a while
