Help How do i reset srs Module

I would like to know how do you go about reseting the SRS module?
My air bag deploid a long time ago after my mom backed up into my car.
We replaced the airbag itself, but the light stayed on.
Is there a way we can reset it so that the light can go away?

You will have to take that one to the dealer. My friend had the same thing happen. Since it is basically an explosive device, the entire system gets disabled if there are any issues (that is what is causing the light, and yes, your airbag will NOT work with that light on). Before it can be reset, they have to run a diagnostic on the system, to see what caused the fault and then reset it if all is fine. They are the only ones that I know of with the computer. You might be able to find one at a regular shop, but I doubt it.

A couple of general things for working on the airbag:

        1) Do not under any circumstances tamper with the yellow wiring harness. You can't even poke it with a test light without triggering a fault. If you unplug it anywhere, you will trigger a fault. If you move it around, you MIGHT trigger a fault. They made it very sensitive on purpose.

        2) If for some reason you have to remove the steering wheel, a resistor is provided behind the little cover on the driver side of the wheel. It should be clipped to the inside. If for some reason it is missing, do not remove the wheel until you can get ahold of one. You MUST install that into the harness before removing the steering wheel or you will trigger a fault code. Yours is already on, so just keep that in mind.

3)The Driver's SRS system is a Federally mandated safety feature after I think 1992 and a passenger airbag must also be present for any car after 1994(?). That means that it is a legal requirement to have in the car working. If something in the system goes bad and fails all by itself, Honda has to fix it. If you just messed it up by playing around, you will probably incur the cost of repair. As long as you didn't tamper or really mess something up, they should be able to reset it. They might do it for free if you tell them the light just came on.

INCORRECT - SRS repairs do not have to be left to the dealer as long as you are careful and heed all cautionary notes. Check Shopkey for details.

No offense or anything, you CAN repair anything on a car, but that one is best left alone. I wouldn't cut my teeth on it and I am not a wiring virgin by any means. All it takes is the right slip or mistake and POW! They will do, and have done severe bodily damage.

I would rather give an excuse and let the dealer look at it. They usually don't charge.

If he wants to chance it, go ahead.

First of all, the SRS is not "covered" by any warranty. Only certain components of the seat belts are covered by the Honda Lifetime Seat Belt Warranty. Second, I have heard on many occasions that the SRS unit must be replaced if it has been deployed. (I would check eBay for a new one) Third, how freaking fast was she going to trigger the airbags!?!?
