    slow rev

alright. so i have swaped an f22b1 in my 93 cb7 and all of the wiring is correct. timing belt is on correctly. ignition timing is correct and has been played with to see if the rev gets any better. nothing. the engine sort of hesitates in the begining and then the rpms will get up there when i do a take off. but when i goto rev the engine in neutral or park it doesnt rev as fast as my old f22a engine and takes a little longer to redline than i think it should. the only mod that i have is an aftermarket header. i dont think that would do it. i wonder what is going on. thanks for any help.

Does the hesitation happen in low speed and when you start gaining speed you dont feel the hesitation anymore?

yeah. thats it. then after the low rpm around 3000 the car takes off. so in the begining , it lags, if you will..

i have checked that so many times. its not it. also i during the low rpm, i notice a sputtering in the header, there are no leaks. then it sounds clean after 2500, 3000.

If it feels like you get power back when your cruising at a higher speed but low speed it feels like its trying to accelerate but really slowly could be your torque converter.

i have checked and rechecked the timing belt and its on where it should be. but let me make sure. so on the crank gear there is a arrow that points up and that should align with the line on the block. correct? and on the cam, the two lines are supposed to line up with the head. right? thats what i know. let me know if i am wrong. thanks

alright. i took a look and everything was lined up. and just for the heck of it i put the belt one tooth forward and it would only rev upto 5,000. then back over on the other side of where the belt was suppose to be the rev sucked as well. so i know for sure that the belt is in the right spot. so now i am back to figuring out whats going on with why i am getting that slower than normal rev. my timing is on with the ignition too.

sort of wierd but i noticed that the sputtering noise out of the exhaust manifold has quieted down. cant figure that one out.

but i am still having the slow rev problem. and take off isnt as quick as what i remember from the f22a.. one more thing i have forgotten to mention because it happends so rarely is that the engine sometimes seems like it shuts down on take off, or seems like the engine is barely working then all of a sudden will go back to normal. its almost like a fuel shut off. cant figure that one out either.

I had the exact same problem when I did my H22a4 swap. The problem would happen sporadically. I would have one good hard pull and then like a switch was flipped I would have a bunch of sluggish gutless pulls.

The Cause: Insufficient grounding. I had forgotten to attach a bunch of grounds to the motor and tranny and once I did the problem was gone.
