crank position and tdc both run off the same sensor right guys? read through the haynes and online workshop to see what it says. personally i would trace the wiring to this sensor, clean and make sure all the sensors and connections are in top shape

aero3685 is right
Code 4 = Crank Angle Sensor
Code 8 = TDC Position Sensor
** Correction **
If it was a Code 12 - EGR System it would be One Long blink and Two Short Blinks with a pause in between.
Is there any unusual ticking noise emanating from the dizzy??
On the CB7 the Upper Rotor Shaft Bearings are proned to flog out. The excessive play in the upper bearing allows the the shaft to come in contact with the Internal Sensors inside the dizzy - The Crank Angle Sensor, The TDC Sensor & The No1 Cyl Position Sensor. Worst case is the Interruptors on the Rotor Shaft shattering.
Another problem you may experience is when you pull up at lights the engine will cut out and it will be a pain to restart. The CEL will go out until you rev it up and the CEL comes back on. I had this problem and it was the No1 Cyl Position Sensor damaged by the play in the rotor shaft. I replaced the upper bearing but the damage was already done.
The only option I had was to Put a NEW or RECONDITIONED Distributor in.
As Honda in Australia do not sell the internal parts separate and a New Dizzy is worth over $1200, I opted for one from ROCKAUTO.COMLast edited by F22-GURU; 01-11-2006, 11:22 PM.

Good to see you are on the ball son, go to the top of the class.Originally posted by 92exI thought 12 would be one long blink followed by 2 short blinks?Originally posted by GEN46LIf it was a Code 12 - EGR System it would be 12 continuous blink with a pause in between.
You can put that one in the Dumb Quotes of the Year Section if you want.
I have since corrected it.
There is no adjustments possible to fix the problem. You could try replacing the upper bearing on it's own and hope there is no damage done otherwise you will have to replace the whole dizzy.
To check for play, remove the dizzy cap and feel for lateral movement in the rotor shaft. It should be quite noticeable. If yo remove the dizzy from the car and spin the bottom gear you would feel a distinct roughness or catching.Last edited by F22-GURU; 01-11-2006, 11:31 PM.
