go to the dealership, give them your VIN and get another key made, you were probaly given one of the spare ones that only open the doors and ignition

i bet that key wont open the back seat, or lock the trunk release handle will it?

if thats the case then you have a valet key.

same thing happend to me with my civic, they can use your current key to make a real one and its like 3 bucks

It's a valet key. Paid $15 at honda for a master key. The valet key also cant open the glovebox. Bring your registration card with you.

You've got the valet key. Honda has dropped the price on making duplicate keys. I paid only $3 at the local Acura stealership for a copy of mine on an Acura-headed key blank.

As an alternative solution, there's a steel cable that runs from the lock cylinder to that trunk lid latch mechanism. It's held in by one of those goofy little plastic clips like the ones found in the doors. Last year, my clip broke, and the trunk lid wouldn't open through using the keyhole because the cable popped out every time I turned the key. The only way to open the trunk was with the remote release lever from inside the cabin.

If that's the problem, replacement clips can be had at Autozone or from your dealer, and won't cost more than a few bucks. Took me about 30 minutes to change out.

Either way, it can be a very frustrating problem.
I swear, eventually I'll run out of things to break.

I guess I was wrong... I broke it all. Died 10/29/06

i had the same problem, i went in through the backseat, popped the trunk, then hosed everything down with wd40. except, in my frustration, i used pliers to try and pull the cable from inside. i bent the cable and now cant open from the inside, so now i have to replace it
