    Air filter removal

    Guys,

Just a question about removing the stock air filter box from a '90 Accord EXi (im replacing with pod filter)

There is a pipe leading from the air filter box

To another box of some sort shown here

This box is then connected via a lead

To the underside of the fuel injector (its hard to see)

Now if the suction to the box pictured in the second picture is removed (when I take the stock air filter box out) is it going to cause any problems to the fuel injector? Or anything else for that matter..

    Cheers,
    Scott

search in the DIY section for a thread about how to install a cold air intake it tells how to remove that stuff and what it is!

I did have a look mate but alot of that is non specific to the EXi...

Basically all im doing is replacing the filter box with a pod filter.. Using the stock intake pipe and stock everything else.. In the DIY section they removed the filter box altogether but I was wondering whether I had to do the same? Or whether I just removed the filter box and just left the vaccum box sitting there..

Thats what I originally intended on doing.. except the vaccum box is connected to the filter box by a pipe, and removing it will surely disable the vaccum box from working, it has a diaphragm in the connection to the filter box.. Basically I dont think the vaccum box is going to be much use without the stock filter box.. Now my question is, will this damage, change anything to do with the engine (considering the vaccum box is connected to the fuel injector/carburetor via a lead..)

Hey Mate, Where abouts in OZ are you from Scott1e, anywhere near NEWCASTLE?

Just keep the Valve & Vac Lines Connected & Bypassed. Tape it out of the way behind the headlight. It's only there to operate a valve that decreases Intake Noise below 3500 rpm, but who wants that anyhow.

ATM I've only got a K&N Slab Filter fitted to the Original Air Box. I've Modified the one of Tubes (Pic 1) to get air directly from the Air Box behind the Front Bumper, which I've modified by drilling 12 Holes in the front to get more air in.
The Air Induction Noise sounds quite throaty.
Nice & Cheap CAI that didn't cost a cent to do. Not as efficient as the Real Deal but makes quite a noticeable difference.
Plus it still looks original so the Bacon Patrol can defect me.
