    Paint Header?

I am getting a used header and was wondering if I could paint it w/that engine stuff that is rated for some pretty hot temps. Or that grille paint. I just want to paint them black so they dont stand out. I wanted to see if anyone did it before, i dont want to end up w/a melting paint smell coming off my car all the time.

    thanks

it works ok... I've done it before, but not on my Accord... the paint will smell for a little while, until it's cured... use that stuff from VHT that's rated for 1200 degrees or something. Just make sure the header is super super clean, or the paint will flake off pretty fast.

dont paint your headers man, seriously its stupid no paint will hold up good enough to the headers heat,no matter what temp it willfade and become brittle and chip.i have seen about 4 headers painted and they end up coming out like shit.why do u think you never here about people doing it.

well when you get them you wire brush them and sand them,it gets all the rust off and then there redish.thats fine.painting them is just not a great idea.if you have a heat sheild you could paint that but i think just leaving the headers alone looks fine.good luck with whatever u do.

ya if its professional its worth it,powder coated looks awsome.but doing it youself is dumb because even know you can get "1200"degree paint it dont hold up.but ya steves right if you have it dont it will be cool.because stock headers perform just as good as dc's.

i know which header ur getting from someone on this board anyway..
what u should do is make ur heat shield look perdy as fuck.. which in return will last long and look better..
sand the heat shield down and primer/high temp paint ect ect u know the drill.. and if u do it right it can turn out like this

as u can see a nicely painted heat shield looks pretty nice also.. a nicely painted valve cover looks nice as welll hehe
by the way incase anyone asks

those motors are fucking great for crx's...

                        i ALWAYS can appreciate b-series rex's...

but either way, yeah, that looks good. i gotta question about this too, i had a few spots on my valve cover that were chipped a little, so i touched it up wth paint for like 1000 degrees that you'd use on barbeques, will it ignite on me? i have no clue. but if it gets hot enough dont it make fire? im scared a lil bit

your wrong.. the 86-89 accord b20a is totally different from other b20a''s.. unlike the 2ng gen prelude b20a5s and the crv b20aZ(ithink) the b20a has no numbers for the accord, it is a straight drop in no motor mounts needed while the b20a5/b20aZ have b16a style motor mounts..

id like to paint my header silver. i got a wire brush on my drill (high powerd) that would work to take off the rust right?

at least i can claim i have a mod hHAhA

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
