    Intake Manifold Swap Question

OK, I got my ECU the other day from the f22a6 and I am in the hunt for an intake manifold. I was told that the new manifold will have an additional vaccume line, where is this additional line located, and how to I run a line to it? Just split an existing line? If so, what one of my existing lines will I split?

    Thanks!

the additional line goes to the butterfly valves in the manifold. The vaccum line comes from a little black box attached to the bottom of the intake mani. The line just goes to the flapper valve is all. The only thing you need to worry about is connecting the 2 wires coming off of that black box. They lead pins in the ecu that the a1 ecu doesn't have. Happy to see you got the a6 ecu tho. Again...don't worry about the vaccum line you'll see where it goes anyways...oh and the vaccum is used to close the valves at any rpm below 4800 i believe it is (can't remember exactly). At that specific rpm the vaccum stops and the flappers open. If you don't have the a6 ecu to provide the electrical source for the vaccum to be present at low rpms then it will just remain open all the time.

I agree w/Midnight on this description. Just verifying his statement.

For my project I'm planning on using a H23 intake manifold that has IAB as well like the F22a6. I have it along w/H23 TB as well (2mm larger than F22 TB).

Now I'm gonna run that with a P06 ECU (92-95 Civic manual trans) and it doesn't support the IAB setup...how convenient. I'll figure a way around it cuz I want to use the H23 IM I already have. MSD RPM activation window or wiring it up somehow.

how, when you talk about this black box thing, do I need to run new wires from my ecu to the box? I am toally confused!! Some pics or detailed directions on this swap would be quite helpful. Thanks!!!

Yes, you need to run a wire to the ECU. Run the pink/blue wire to pin A17 of the ecu and the black/yellow wire to a switched 12V source.

OK another question, do I just use my same air intake plenum and throttle body from my a1 and put it on the a6 intake? (mine only have 80k miles on it)

use your throttle body if you want the a6 and a1 (and a4) tb's are all the same. And as for the plenum it should be part of the intake manifold. By plenum i'm assuming you mean the upperhalf of the intake mani right? If so they better include that because the other will not work. They wouldn't even bolt up because the a1 and a4 intake mani are single runners.

im interested in this. keep me updated, and tell me how much is a intake manifold. i wonder how much the yards will sell it to me for. i remember seeing a f22a6 motor there in tact.
