    axle extended too far

was changing my passenger side rotor and without even noticing i pulled the axle too far... its out about 1 and a half inches on the boot beside the tranny? is it fked or what? or can i just pop it back in

try moving it around to see if its close enough to slide back in... good chance youre screwed though. you can get a new boot kit from autozone, take the old boot off, line up the bearings and get it back together and put the new boot on...

if the boot is not torn, you will need at minimum a new large boot band because you'll have to cut the old one off to get inside. auto zone or honda sells them and you can loan the tool for free from AZ. get some latex gloves and prepare to get greasy to put it back together. there will be three roller bearings that go on the spider. put those on, and slide it back together. it's a lot easier if you just clip both boot bands and pull the boot down to get to everything.

when all else fails, a large band clamp works in place of a boot clamp/strap...

When you say band clamp...are you talking about the type you tighten with a screw? This doesnt throw off the balance when the wheel is spinning fast?

Ive broken both of the new clamps that came with my boot...because it says to use a special tool but NO ONE ever CARRIES the damned thing!

          Any help would be great.

Band clamps are the ones that go around the cv boot. It takes a special tool to clamp down on the boot, and thats where autozone comes in. If you have an axle on warranty though, I'd go in and see if they'd swap it, just cause its not worth the trouble.

by the way a pair of wire cuters work great as the "special tool " ...you can use them to clamp down the clamp its preaty self explanitory when you look at the clamp it self and the little part that gets squized to tighten it ...

In Need of an engine, just a basic f22a...pm me if you have one willing to part with.

Well...I screwed up 2 of the so called "self explanatory" clamps. The wife is on her way back from the store now with more to try. All the stores around here had no "special tools" though they sell the clamps that need the special tool.

I dont know how to work those "self explanatory" clamps. I tried 2 and messed both up. I just want the ones you pull tight and fold back and push the tabs on top of.

make sure your boot surface where the boot is gonna clamp down and seal too is clean of grease. Yes, it calles for a special cv clamp tool, wat I use is a vice grip plier. Stick the end through the slot, and clamp it down wit the plier, then pull back and hard and tight, and bend it back over where it needs to go, now havesomeone else help you while you hold the clamp in place and havem punch the little clamp thingys to clamp the band in place! shouldnt be all that hard, but have someone help you out, more likely u need it!

I dont think we are talking about the same type of clamps. Sounds like you are talking about the ones that you pull tight and bend back and push the tabs down on to hold it down. Those arent the ones that came with my boot. Ive never seen this type before. Has 3 holes, one is for the actual clip. You are supposed to use a special tool to squeeze the square piece somehow and it tightens it, but Ive messed up 3 now, but I dont have the proper tool. Reguardless, Ive learned a lot in this experience. The main thing is to just buy the whole axle. This $h!t just aint worth it!

if im thinking of the right ones the little square thing is what you tighten at the botom with a pair of wire cutters and it makes like a little mushroom shape ...
