How do I install a Accel or MSD coil??

First of all let me first say that my 92 already is equiped with a factory external coil. What I need to know is what I do with the 3 wires in the harness? Which ones would go to + and which ones to - ? I'm sure someone has done this mod before. I know the harness will be cut off of the wires and they will need to be extended to reach the new mounting location along with the coil wire being longer.

It's in you best interest to do a SEARCH before you get barraged with abuse.

      What's the deal...

I searched and I keep coming across internal to external. The problem is that I am already at a stock external. I want to know how to rewire everything to switch to a aftermarket coil. Right now there are 3 wires that are pluged into the coil, because there is a harness that plugs into it. I don't think I am the only one on this forum that has a car that came from Honda that has the external coil from the factory. If I do wow I must be special.

I know that there are people that get on here and like to play 20 questions. I am not one of those. I do look around before asking because I know that it is so hard for people to take a little time to help the NOOBS out once in a while. In stead of bashing people once in a while help them out, point them in the right direction. I'm not asking to have someone rewrite the thread out for me. Just point me to the thread if you happen to know where it is at. I might not know alot about Honda but what I do know I have no problem helping people out.

actually, i searched for this too, mostly all i found was internal to external, which helped, but not all that much.
i will tell you my understanding of this though.
from my understanding of the wiring diagram
obviously you have a power wire, on constant with ignition. and then you'll have a switching ground signal from your ignitor. the 3rd wire from what i can tell is actually a power line to the ignitor. also, the wiring diagram shows this wire as having a resistor in it, so it might not be a full 12v signal going to the ignitor.

unfortunately i don't remember which color wire is which. use that shopkey link to get the wire colors, i would but shopkey doesn't support my mac, otherwise i will just get the alldata while i'm at college tomorrow.
i just put my MSD blaster 2 coil in last week with the ballast resistor, and it didn't work, but it didn't run right before, so i don't know if i did it right or not, but we'll see.

p.s. here's something else I didn't see anyone else mention....
DO WE NEED THE .8 0HM BALLAST RESISTOR FOR THE MSD BLASTER 2 LIKE THE DIRECTIONS TELL US??

the ballast resistor is not needed for installation in the cb7.

i'm guessing your cb7 has the OEM external coil, from your SN.
                    anyways, here's what u do:

                    - there are 3 wires you will use that run to your factory coil:
                    yellow, black w/yellow stripe, black

                    - cut the wires off from the factory coil. splice/connect the yellow and black w/yellow stripe together. this will connect to the (+) positive terminal on the MSD coil

                    - the black wire will connect to the (-) negative terminal on the MSD coil

*and the ballast resistor is NOT needed *

-yeah ballast resistor is only for old school GM's and Fords..

hmmmm follow this..but instead of cutting anything...use the harness instead...this will allow you to have the factory coil as a backup just incase your factory craps out. and will be as easy as plug n play..and if you ever get the msd 6a..it has the wires you need to hook up directy to the harness

yea that's what i am doing,
but i'll just take the ballast resistor out of the equation.
so then yea I was right about the ignitor wiring.

when you say use the connector, how so do you mean.
this is what i'm doing, I'm using male spade type connectors into the connector itself.
but i'm not sure how well thats going to hold up.
                        we'll see
