    Removal of Rear Bumper

    Hey guys,

Recently had some twat back into me and put a big dent in my 90 Accord EXi...

Now I would like to get as much of the damage fixed myself, so im thinking about removing the bumper and pouring hot water in to soften the plastic, then pushing out as much as I can.. (hoping that the paint doesnt flake)

If anyone has any better ideas id be all ears to them but my problem here is where abouts the screws/bolts to remove the rear bumper are located..

If anyone knows of any DIY's (I searched and couldnt find any) or has any pics where they can point out the screws/bolts to me that'd be great..

    Cheers

open the trunk, along the rear edge theres two rubber circles, pop them out and youll find a nut behind each, 12mm they should be... take those off, then look underneath, along the two main frame rails at the very back theres a plastic cover on each, use a + screwdriver to remove the cover (plastic screw) and youll find another 12mm behind each of them. then slide the bumper back off of the car... the plastic bumper cover and the heavy support beam come off as a single unit, you can separate the cover from the beam by removing all of the round plastic clips along the top edge, and theres a few on the bottom... then youll be able to see what kind of damage has been done, see if the support beam is bent at all.

they are usually a pain. try to screw them out with hardly any pressure down on them. If not, just take a pair of pliers and rip them outta there. You only really need one or two, and an auto store or hardware store should have ones that will work.

Cheers for that mate.. I only had to remove one of the plastic screws in the end, and I broke it.. However there were quite a number of screws around the mudgard which too needed to be removed.

This is the finnished product.. I used a hair drier to heat the plastic up and then heated it up moreso with boiling water.. Banged it back into shape with a plank of wood and then rounded things off with a rubber mallet..

I wish I got money out of the people that hit me... Unfortunately I parked in a carpark at the gym...

The parking spots there are really thin and a bit confusing.. Someone has obviously backed into me with their towbar and then drove away to avoid paying the cost of fixing it...

I checked with the gym for video surveylance but according to them theyre cameras only come on at random hours of the day and unfortunately they werent on when I was hit..

Im surprised he didnt leave a note like this...

'People around me think Im leaving you my details, but you and I know better!'

                Asshole

not to jack the thread, but what versions do you have in australia? What engine does an EX-i have?

wrong clip... the one in the very top left of that picture is the one you need to remove, and the 12mm nut is under that
