Car Starts.. 10 min later it dies..

My friend needs some help with his 91 ex auto>>

1991 2 door, Its getting old, but still runs quite nicely.. However, for the last 3 years its been giving me trouble, this is a very complex problem that no one has been able to figure out, not even my machanic.

It Stalls out on me, but only between the months of April/may until about late october.. I assume its a temperature thing. (only stalls durring warm months). It only stalls after I let it sit for 10 consecutive hours, for example.. I get home at 11pm, and start it at 10am the next day, it will stall.. but it stalls about 5 minutes into the drive. It wont start right back up again, I usually have to wait around 3-5 minutes before it restarts, and its fine the rest of that day, or until i let it sit for 10 hours again. Like i said, I dont have this problem durring the cold/winter months.. only from mid spring to mid fall..

Any ideas on what it could be.

With my knowlage it could be...

    Main Relay or
    Fuel Pump Relay

    Any ideas?

I would say main relay myself. My 91 also sort of acts like that. All winter it worked fine, but last fall when I got it, it would idle really low and almost stall out at stop lights and stuff. But I turned up my idle, and that sort of fixed that problem. But I think the problem stems from the main relay. Say if I was filling my car at the pumps, and tried to start it up right away, it sometimes would be unable to start until a few minutes. But if I left it a good amount of time it started good everytime. I read this was the main relay as well. I plan on changing mine soon, so I can update you if the problem fixes.

Main relay is a known problem with our cars. They are cheap, I'd swap a working one in and see if that fixes the problem.

1)- vaccum leak in intake manifold ..or maybe you installed it backwards?
          2)- iac valve malfunction
3)- vaccum leak in the lines..or air boost valve malfunction
4)- fast idle valve isnt closing
5)- intermittent failing of engine coolant temp sensor
          6)- faulty oxygen sensor

the main relay as mentioned above could also be the cause..usually happens in warmer humid weather..contacts seperate

just a list of moslty likely things you may wanna look at.
