about 2 weeks ago, I noticed when I slow down and my car starts to downshift, its like im downshifting a standard, it only seems to do it right when its first started and goes away once its heated up, its not very bad but I can notice it. one day last week after I worked on my car it was very bad. does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Well its most likely trying to help your car slow down obviously. Its normal but when you mean bad how bad. I drove a 1990 DX and it was a bit rough when going down the gears cold but was fine when it warmed up a lil but thats normal. How long has it been since you changed your ATF?

I'd say consider yourself lucky. I can slow down to 25mph and my shitbox will still be in 4th gear. I think it likes not revving and only putting out 50hp.

Check the throttle control cable that goes to your transmission. If it is broken, sticking, or not synchronized, it can cause rough downshifts when stopping as you are describing. If the cable sticks or is too short, the trans. will think you still have the gas pressed. I would lube it up and adjust it a little on the loose side for smoother shifts. (Not too loose or your clutches will slip) Also, there are about 3 codes from the TCM that can be set but do not trigger a D4 light. One is a code 15 which is the mainshaft speed sensor. If that is bad, you may experience hard shifts. Remember that a little bit of downshift can be felt from a perfectly working trans. Jump your service connector and see if you have any codes tho.

i had that it was around like 20 mph when the needle was dropping and it gave the car a little jerk i did a drain and fill and it was gone so try servicing the tranny and hopefully it will be goodLast edited by hpaccord91; 04-04-2006, 06:45 PM.
